Unions Deploy Quadrilingual Digital Mobile Billboard Message

In advance of a strike authorization vote by employees of Encore Boston Harbor who are members of the labor organizations UNITE HERE Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, the unions deployed a Guerrilla Billboards mobile digital billboard truck to remind members of the dates and hours that the voting would be held at a nearby Knights of Columbus Hall in Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood.

Given an ethnically diverse membership, with English a second language for many, the unions decided to take advantage of the LED truck’s ability to run multiple images in a slide show format, and featured the strike authorization vote reminder message in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Haitian Creole.

The truck’s daily operating route was designed to regularly pass the Encore hotel and casino as it looped between two nearby MBTA Orange Line rapid transit stations, which not coincidently, the Encore employee shuttle buses frequently ran to and from.

At the conclusion of the vote, it was reported that more than 95% of the members voted to authorize a strike.
